Champion Petfoods Announces FfT Researcher as the New Chair in Pet Nutrition

Dr. Anna Kate Shoveller, an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Biosciences, has been named as the inaugural Champion Petfoods Chair in Canine and Feline Nutrition, Physiology and Metabolism. She will also lead a new international research collaboration under a five-year grant from Champion Petfoods based in Edmonton.

“Our collaboration with the University of Guelph and Dr. Shoveller will help ensure that one of the world’s leading research teams has the resources to advance this vital work for the betterment of the entire pet food industry.” Blaine McPeak, CEO of Champion Petfoods.

Shoveller has worked with the pet food industry for almost two decades, leading research and communicating results about topics including protein and energy metabolism and effects of nutrition on behaviour.
