Cultivating Biodiversity and Ecosystems
Cultivating biodiversity and building ecosystem resilience are crucial for maintaining and enhancing the health of our food system, our agricultural production and our planet.
Since 2017, Food from Thought has supported projects addressing the big challenges we are currently facing in food production, including climate change, biodiversity loss, ecosystem health and animal welfare. Leading researchers at the University of Guelph and partner institutions are tackling the biodiversity crisis and building tools to help us understand how agricultural production systems can enhance biodiversity, support critical ecosystem services, and ensure productive and environmentally sound food production for generations to come. This research is actively helping us to understand, conserve and build biodiversity as part of a productive, resilient food system.
