The agriculture industry has a daunting task ahead in the coming years: expand production to feed a population that is set to hit 9 billion by 2050, and do it in a way that protects and sustains our planet. This is no small feat and an ‘all-hands-on-deck’ approach will be required.
But what if there was a way to make it easier for stakeholders to work together to solve this problem? To share raw data and information that has already been gathered, safely and securely, so that it can be used on multiple fronts in the fight against hunger and climate change?
We live in an age in which research is being conducted and information is being collected in abundance, but oftentimes important data remains hidden from those who could turn it into a potential solution.
This is the problem that Agri-Food Data Canada plans to solve.
ADC will build a state-of-the-art data management system that will allow authorized users to access and share data in a secure environment. This will mean researchers and problem solvers will be better able to collaborate and work towards solutions for the food and environmental challenges that our society is facing.
Agri-Food Data Canada is about to enter a 9 month design phase. Check back for updates on this exciting project.
